Scenario-based learning supports active learning through situations that involve interactions that are problem or case-based. Scenario-based learning requires students to use their knowledge and skills to think and develop responsive ideas that can be used to solve a situation critically. In this case, Kenkint Organization has a program to empower the youth in achieving their education goals. The ideas and skills that are to be input in the program describe their learning needs.

Learning Scenario with Comprehensive Details

Kenkint Organization is a non-governmental organization that is focused on supporting girl child to accomplish their education dreams. The organization empowers adolescent girls and takes them through life skills to boost their confidence in achieving the required goals. Kenkint has come up with a program to initiate funds and invest more instructional materials for the youths since its annual enrollment is increasing, thus increasing their investments to cater to all the girls.

The organization program is based on making cotton dolls with unique features to create awareness of girls’ empowerment. The dolls will then be sent to different sponsors and stakeholders who have created interest to support the company with the needed funds through the newly invented goals.

The invented dolls must have unique features to enhance their attraction since they are meant to create an imaginative, moving, emotional and convincing feature that will facilitate enough funds for new investments and act as a marketing strategy for the organization. Kenkint delivers adolescent girls’ basic needs to schools and many children’s homes globally. 

The learning scenario is that the staff members must develop innovative skills, knowledge, and different experiences in creating unique dolls. Every doll has a clear language to speak, thus the unique feature in them. Most staff members are not conversant with the learning opportunity, but the ones who went through different trainings are meant to share their experiences in making the dolls.

The senior project manager and other senior departmental heads are professionally qualified in their empowerment skills. The roles to be played by the staff members also requires them to gain effective marketing and communication coordination skills and experiences since they are to conduct open massive facilitation and coordination that will target chief executive officers of different organizations, government officials, and additional sponsors who are positioned to listen to the success stories from beneficiaries.

Analyzation of the Learning Need

The learning need is that all the staff members must have a certain level of communication and coordination skills since everyone will have an area to conduct the experiments and facilitation process. As a staff member, I only have the standard marketing strategies needed for an existing program. Since the program is new to the organization, extra higher communication and coordination skills will be essential for the massive facilitation. Additionally, creating the dolls is also a learning need to staff members since the organization makes plain marketing dolls to create awareness and empower youths. 

Kenkint new program requires a new level of coordination, communication, demonstration, and creative skills in creating the unique featured dolls that will be a source of funding from the sponsors. The dolls are to be experimentally demonstrated in front of clients, customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and investors, requiring unique demonstration strategies and skills that qualify them as learning needs.

The Best Model that I Think Will be Appropriate in Conducting Needs Assessments

I think that the innovation assessment model will best describe the needs of Kenkint organization since studies from Kaufman & English (1979) indicates that the innovation model analyses the current innovation efforts and practices of the company, it identifies the organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, that enables the company to come up with better solutions. The innovation assessment model is a visually based model that understands the organization’s operations and sets relevant priorities requiring close attention. This helps the company to offer quality service delivery and enhances innovation success. Once all the identification, analysis, and pinpointing of the innovation model’s workable areas is complete, the model reflects the overall performance by offering recommendations that the company can practically rely on to maximize innovation success (Kaufman & English, 1979).

Therefore, since the Kenkint program is still in the initial stages that require accurate description, communication, and experiment, the innovation assessment model will allow the organization to analyze its strengths and weaknesses to handle the project effectively. Moreover, the model pinpoints and understands organization operations, which will enable the staff members to adjust areas that require proper attention for effective outcomes.

Once all the massive open coordination, communication, and facilitation processes are complete, the organization will be able to reflect on the essential steps to work on, as they will also be able to evaluate the recommendation and review of the new program, which will help them to launch and put the plan in operations.

Ethical, Legal, and Political Factors that Influence the Identification or Analysis of the Learning Need or Needs Assessment Model

The legal and ethical codes dictate the testing needs to promote and protect specific elements from abuses. Camara (1997) explains how ethical principles promote ethical standards that guide professionals from engaging in unethical behaviors. For instance, Kenkint’s focus is on adolescent girls’ education and empowering; the staff members chosen to handle coordination, communication, and facilitation are required to understand the legal and ethical standards required of them in their practices. The ethical and legal standards contain guidelines and principles that promote equal employment opportunity to professionals from different societies, backgrounds, races, and ethnicities.  

Additionally, Looney (2009) describes that learning needs assessments play a fundamental role in offering education and training opportunities that help in professional development, and ethical and legal standard required for every professional evaluation. Learning needs assessment is a critical factor in the education system since it involves practices and efforts geared to bring changes in the design process that enhance individual skills and promote positive results in the research process needed to formulate new policies and guidelines.

Ethical, legal, and political factors, according to Camara (1997), have also developed the need to employ professional staffs in handling testing’s and procedures like Kenkint organized different trainings and assessment from the testing and assessment policy boards to ensure that all the team engaging in the program are well conversant with all the processes


Learning needs assessments to equip the engaged teams with skills and knowledge that increase personal and economic development. Society and states should develop interventions to help conduct safe and reliable research that can be used for further references.
