• Conduct an internet search for a current event affecting health at the local, state, national, or international level.
  • Focus on events or problems that have an impact on the health of aggregates, communities, states, or nations.
  • Identify the sources of your information and critique their reliability.
  • Discuss your findings and respond to the following questions:
    • Who is at risk? Are some persons or groups affected more than others?
    • What are the most likely adverse outcomes?
    • What solutions are being offered? Are they likely to be effective from the perspective of nursing in the community?
    • What primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention interventions or programs would you propose?
    • What implications does the issue/problem have for community/public health nurses?
    • How do your nursing education and your understanding of epidemiology equip you to address this problem?
